Carl Oliver has been a photojournalist, investigator, counterintelligence officer, business ethics officer, and educator. He graduated from Stanford University with a degree in psychology, earned an MBA from California Lutheran University, and earned a master's degree in organizational development and a PhD in human and organizational systems from Fielding Graduate University.
His experience as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Air Force, including three years teaching aerospace studies at Stanford, led to his first book, Plane Talk, in which famous aviators described the thrill of flying.
His work in Panama led to his second book, Panama's Canal, explaining the whys and hows of the Panama Canal's psychological, economic, and political environment. His years as a business ethics officer for a major corporation led to his third book, Business Ethics, co-authored with Frank Daly
